I Totally Want to Change the World

19I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. 21Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else in this world or in the world to come. 22And God has put all things under the authority of Christ, and he gave him this authority for the benefit of the church. 23And the church is his body; it is filled by Christ, who fills everything everywhere with his presence.

I added the underlining, just so you don't miss the stuff I liked most.  I am really getting excited to see God do cool things around here.  Sometimes I don't want to be a part of it, because I am afraid I am just going to screw everything up.  But then I read something like this..."God has put all things under the authority of Christ".  Ya know what that means to me?  I can't screw things up.  I will fail.  God knows I will fail.  He doesn't expect perfection, only obedience.

Another PF

I was just reading Leah's blog, and it reminded me of another very much favorite story from vacation.

So, my brother and I decided to do a quick trip to town to buy fishing licenses, it was probably about 8pm..  We end up at WalMart.  I asked the lady at Customer Service if they sell these items, she sends us off to sporting goods.  As Josh and I are heading back in that direction we hear an announcement over the intercom, "So-and-so to Sporting Goods...So-And-So to Sporting Goods, please."  Nice, this is a good sign that there will be someone there to help us when we show up.  Unfortunately, when we get to the register counter in sporting goods, there is a couple standing by the counter, and no WalMart associate that we can see.  We stand around, looking at merchandise, and making the sort of comments we tend to make when we hang out.  We were probably there about 10 minutes before I decide to look into the situation.  So I ask the couple that is standing there if they are being helped, or still waiting on someone.  Turns out they had already talked to someone in automotive and asked for help with fishing licenses as well.  The conversation continues.  The woman complains a lot, including complaints about how the employees at the WalMart back home complain way too much.  Still, no help for us.
Josh says something like, "Ya think you have to hit 99 to use the intercom on that phone?"
I look at it, "I bet you hit the button that says 'paging'."
Right then a woman's voice announces something over the intercom and the "paging" button lights up.
"Yep, looks like that's what you hit." Josh says as he picks up the receiver, and hits the button, "Customer waiting in sporting goods.  Again, there is a customer waiting in sporting goods."
The couple that is waiting with us is delighted by Josh's aggressiveness.  I am amused, and slightly proud.  We wait for another five minutes...ish.  Nobody has responded to our urgent cry for help.  Guess it wasn't urgent enough.
"Where was that intercom button?"  the man we are waiting with asks as he picks up the receiver.  Josh hits the button.
"Can we please have an associate in sporting goods?  I repeat, we need an associate in sporting goods, please."
Not more than a minute later, a guy comes around the corner.  He actually has a grin on his face, he liked us, I think.

We got our fishing licenses.  We each went fishing once.  Josh caught nothing.  I caught a little bass, probably wasn't even a pound.  But dude, that's the second time myself or someone I was with spoke on the intercom in WalMart, at that lake.  I intend to make it tradition.

Back From the Lake

Bummer man, I had to come back.

I had so much fun on my family vacation.  I am fairly certain this one would go up in my list of my top five vacations ever.  I was there with my: mom, dad, brother, grandma and grandpa, three uncles, two aunts, and four cousins, and my roommate Ambre for a little while.

I could probably tell you at least one story about and/or with each of these family members, and then I could go on and tell you more from there.  Instead I am going to list a few of my PFs in bullet form.  For a complete essay, I can give that orally, if you ever talk to me.

~ I saw a squirrel fall out of a tree.  I still laugh when I think about this.
~ I got to sit and listen to a thunderstorm under the tin roof of a dock.
~ Shopping with mom.
~ Tubing, skiing, and fishing ( I caught one little bass, he was cute).
~ Skeeball, TEN CENTS a game!
~ Yay for being tan.
~ Yay for the most horrible manicure ever.  I am so done with manicures.
~ My Aunt Bonnie learned how to swim.

That almost sums it up.  One more story.

If I ever bacame a Mayor of a town, I would shoot for Mexico, MO.  This would be my first action as Mayor.

Welcome to Mexico

You can drink the water!

I Shall Miss Our Time Together

Not that I blog all that much.  But I still thought I would let you all know that I am going to be on vacation for the next week, and will most definitely not be doing any blogging.  I will most likely only be doing some sitting by the lake, boating, skiing, and fishing. Thanks for asking.

Oh, and I thought you guys might like to see a picture of my injured hand, so I posted one on the web.

See ya later.

No Address is Good Crap

So, about a week ago, I discovered something new and exciting.  I can now go jogging after dark, all by myself.  Not because I got really strong or anything, just because I now live with a 130lb Great Dane.  I don't think anybody is going to try anything with me as long as I am running with Freya.

So, last week, Freya and I went for our first run together.  It was great for awhile.  My jog is about the same speed as a fast trot for her, and she's great at keeping pace.  We were thoroughly enjoying our time together, until some other dogs invaded our route.  Freya wanted to make sure this didn't happen again.  She took off suddenly an alarming rate of speed, I was fairly certain I was going to face-plant and be dragged down the sidewalk.  But I somehow remained upright, yanking her lease and yelling her name.  By the time I finally got her off of her poor, unsuspecting victim, both dogs, and the other owner, seemed alright.  I ran on.  This is when I realized something very painful had happened to my right middle finger.  At this point, I am almost surprised it didn't get ripped off.  But it's still there.  It was just huge (about the size of two of my fingers together) and purple for a couple of days.  The swelling has now subsided, but there is still a rather large, worrisome lump by my knuckle.  I am only hoping it's not the bone getting ready to poke its way out or something.

I Just Gotta Blog

A few lyrics from a song
Hands in the Air
   The Waiting

Light from my window sill, make my way to the door
I hang my head and still, I know you’re wanting more
Over the threshold now, I move across the yard
All that my will allows, my every step is hard
Now in the garden I, carve out six feet of space
There make my will comply, lie down upon my face
Been toe to toe too long, I’m tired of fighting you
I see you are too strong, 'cuz I am black and blue
But now I understand, how the loser's due to win
How every dying man, is sure to rise again
So I raise my left hand one
I raise my right hand too
Under the morning sun
My spirit cries to you

Okay
I raise my hands in surrender today
Right here, under the sun
Hands in the air singing thy will be done
I hear, under the sun
Hands in the air singing thy will be done
Okay
Here I will stay
Hands in the air singing have thine own way
